Diagnose / Troubleshoot at Your Home or Office
The car is acting up, a warning light is on, or something feels wrong and you do not know the cause. An experienced mobile mechanic comes to your home or office across Northern Virginia, nearby Maryland and Washington, DC, finds the cause where the car is parked, and quotes the repair. Same-day when the schedule has room.

Yes, we find out why your car has a problem, where it is parked
The technician comes to your home or office and works from the symptom to the cause. That may mean scanning vehicle modules, using a meter, checking the affected system, and confirming what has failed. The technician explains what was found in plain words, and the repair is estimated separately. The price covers the diagnosis, billed hourly.
Already know what is wrong?
If you already know it needs a battery, alternator or starter, book the repair directly: Car Battery Replacement, Alternator Replacement or Starter Replacement. Each is a repair appointment with its own written estimate. If you are not sure, this diagnostic is the place to start.
A car problem that needs Diagnose / Troubleshoot: what we see
- A warning light is on and the car still runs.
- The car loses power when you accelerate.
- The engine hesitates, surges or stumbles.
- The car shakes at idle or feels rough in gear.
- The transmission shifts hard, slips or delays going into gear.
- The battery keeps going weak even after it was charged.
- A window, lock, wiper, light or blower works sometimes and not others.
- The car runs fine cold, then acts up after it warms up.
- The problem comes and goes, and no part has been confirmed bad.
- You hear, feel or smell something new but do not know where it starts.
A symptom is not the same as a failed part
Many car problems share the same symptom. A rough idle can come from a vacuum leak, weak ignition, fuel delivery, a dirty throttle body or a sensor reading wrong. A dead electrical item can be a fuse, switch, motor, module, wire or ground. Diagnose / Troubleshoot follows the symptom through the system so the repair is based on the failed part, not a guess.
Why diagnose before replacing parts
Replacing parts by guesswork can miss the real cause. A new sensor will not fix a broken wire, and a new motor will not fix a bad switch. The diagnostic visit narrows the problem to the system and part that failed, then the repair is quoted separately.

What it costs, and how the price is set
Diagnose / Troubleshoot is priced for your car on the written estimate. Diagnostics are billed hourly. The time depends on how clear the symptom is, whether the fault is present during and how much access is needed. The price includes on-site troubleshooting for the symptom you booked; the repair itself is quoted separately once the cause is known.
Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car, and you approve it online. The appointment is confirmed only when the estimate is approved, so the price is set before the technician comes to you. It changes only if you approve a change on site. A deposit may be collected online when you approve; the balance is due when the work is done, online, by card in person, or in cash.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you diagnose it in my parking garage?
+
Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.
Is Diagnose / Troubleshoot the same as a check engine light diagnosis?
+
If the check engine light is the main issue, Diagnose Check Engine Light is the more specific service. Use Diagnose / Troubleshoot when the problem is broader, intermittent, electrical, mechanical or not tied to one clear warning light.
Can the repair be done during the diagnostic visit?
+
The diagnostic visit finds the cause and the repair is quoted as its own estimate. Parts are brought for work that is on an approved estimate. Anything found on site is quoted for a later visit.
How long does a diagnose / troubleshoot take?
+
Usually about an hour. It depends on whether the symptom is present, how many systems share the symptom, and where the part or wiring sits on your year, make, model and engine.
Do I need to be there?
+
Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.
Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?
+
No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.
Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.
If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.
What does Diagnose / Troubleshoot include?
+
It includes on-site troubleshooting for the problem you booked. The technician works from the symptom, uses the tools needed for that system, explains the cause, and quotes the repair separately.
Can you find an intermittent problem?
+
Sometimes. An intermittent fault is easier to find when it happens during the visit. If it does not act up while the technician is there, the diagnosis may be limited to stored codes, visible clues and tests that can be run without the symptom present.
Should I book Diagnose / Troubleshoot or General Auto Repair?
+
Book General Auto Repair only when the repair is already known. If you do not know which part or system is causing the problem, book Diagnose / Troubleshoot first.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
+
Same-day appointments may be available when the schedule permits, but they are not guaranteed. EZ Car Clinic is an advance-booking service, not an emergency roadside or towing provider. Your appointment is confirmed only after you approve the estimate.
How do I pay?
+
EZ Car Clinic may collect a deposit online when you approve the estimate. The balance can be paid online, by card in person, or in cash when the work is done.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
+
Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.
