Is it the idler pulley? Signs to watch for

Idler pulley, belt tensioner or belt?
An idler pulley guides the belt and spins on its own bearing. When that bearing wears, the noise is often a chirp, whine or grind from a fixed pulley. A belt tensioner can make a similar noise, but it also lets the belt flutter because its spring or pulley is worn. What happens if you wait
A noisy idler pulley usually gets louder as the bearing wears. If the bearing locks up or the pulley wobbles, the belt can shred or come off. Then the alternator stops charging, and any belt-driven power steering or water pump can stop working too. Waiting can turn an idler pulley job into a belt and pulley repair.

Idler Pulley Replacement is priced for your car on the written estimate. The price depends on your vehicle's year, make, model, engine and which idler pulley the belt uses. It includes parts and labor, replacing the idler pulley or pulleys, the complimentary multipoint visual inspection, and the EZCC Service Warranty.
Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car and the option, and you approve it online. The appointment is confirmed only when the estimate is approved, so the price is set before the technician comes to you. It changes only if you approve a change on site. A deposit may be collected online when you approve; the balance is due when the work is done, online, by card in person, or in cash.
Warranty

Can you replace the idler pulley in my parking garage?

Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.
Is the noise from the idler pulley or the serpentine belt?

Do cars have an upper and lower idler pulley?

Do I need to be there?

Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.
Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?

No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.
Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.
If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.
Can I cancel or reschedule?

Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.
Can you replace the belt or belt tensioner at the same visit?

Yes, when the work is on the approved estimate. Add Belt Replacement or Belt Tensioner Replacement to your request so the technician brings the parts. Anything found on site is quoted for a later visit.
Can I drive with a noisy idler pulley?

A noisy idler pulley means the bearing may be wearing out. If it locks up or wobbles, the belt can come off and the alternator, power steering or water pump may stop working, depending on your engine.
Will a bad idler pulley turn on the battery light?

It can if the belt slips or comes off and the alternator stops turning. If the battery light is the main symptom and the belt is still in place, Alternator Replacement or a diagnostic may be the better request.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
