Is it the transmission mount? Signs to watch for
- You hear a heavy clunk when shifting from Park into Reverse or Drive.
- The car thumps once when you get on the gas, then thumps again when you let off.
- The steering wheel, seat or floor vibrates more when the car is stopped in gear.
- The vibration changes when you shift to Neutral.
- A low knock comes from the middle or rear of the engine bay during takeoff.
- The shifter moves more than normal when the engine loads up.
- The exhaust or heat shield rattles because the drivetrain is moving too much.
- The car feels like it has a harsh shift, but the noise is a solid body clunk.
- The front end dips or rocks more than normal when changing between drive and reverse.
Transmission mount, engine mount or CV axle?
A transmission mount holds the transmission case to the body or subframe and limits side-to-side and front-to-back movement. When the rubber separates or collapses, the drivetrain can hit its stop and make a dull clunk during gear changes or throttle changes. Engine mounts can cause similar vibration, but they usually let the engine rock more. A CV axle is more likely to click during turns or shake while driving under load.
What happens if you wait
A worn transmission mount lets the drivetrain move farther than it should. That extra movement can load the engine mounts, exhaust flex pipe, hoses, wiring, shifter linkage and CV axles. The clunk and vibration usually get worse, and nearby parts can loosen or wear from the movement.

Transmission Mount Replacement is priced for your car on the written estimate. The price depends on your vehicle's year, make, model, engine, drivetrain layout and where the mount sits. It includes the transmission mount, parts and labor, the complimentary multipoint visual inspection, and the EZCC 12-month / 12,000-mile Service Warranty.
Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car, and you approve it online. The appointment is confirmed only when the estimate is approved, so the price is set before the technician comes to you. It changes only if you approve a change on site. A deposit may be collected online when you approve; the balance is due when the work is done, online, by card in person, or in cash.

Can you replace the transmission mount in my parking garage?

Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.
Will Transmission Mount Replacement fix vibration at idle?

It can, when the vibration is from a collapsed or separated transmission mount. If the vibration is from an engine misfire, an engine mount, an exhaust contact point or another cause, book a diagnostic appointment instead of a repair.
Is a transmission mount the same as an engine mount?

No. Engine mounts support the engine, and the transmission mount supports the transmission side of the drivetrain. They work together, so one failed mount can make the others carry more movement.
How long does a transmission mount replacement take?

Usually one to three hours. It depends on the year, make, model, engine, drivetrain layout and where the mount sits. Some mounts are open under the car, and others are under brackets, shields or crossmember hardware.
Do I need to be there?

Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.
Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?

No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.
Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.
If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.
Can I cancel or reschedule?

Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.
Can a bad transmission mount cause a clunk when shifting into drive?

Yes. A torn or collapsed transmission mount can let the transmission move suddenly when torque loads the drivetrain. That movement can feel like a harsh shift and sound like a dull clunk.
Can you replace engine mounts at the same visit?

Yes, when Engine/Motor Mount Replacement is on the approved estimate. Add it to your request so it is quoted on the same estimate; the technician brings the parts for the approved work. Work that is not on the estimate is quoted for a later visit.
What if the clunk is from an axle or suspension part?

A CV axle, control arm, ball joint or other driveline part can also make a clunk. If you are not sure the transmission mount is the problem, book Diagnose Unusual Sounds instead.
Can I get a same-day appointment?

Same-day appointments may be available when the schedule permits, but they are not guaranteed. EZ Car Clinic is an advance-booking service, not an emergency roadside or towing provider. Your appointment is confirmed only after you approve the estimate.
