EZCC Service Warranty on parts and labor
Yes, we replace rack and pinion assemblies where the car is parked
The technician brings the rack and pinion for your car to your home or office and installs it. They reconnect the steering shaft, lines or electrical connectors, and tie rod ends, then flush and bleed the power steering fluid where the system uses fluid. The appointment also includes a complimentary multipoint visual inspection. The price includes parts, labor and the EZCC Service Warranty.
Not sure it is the rack and pinion?
A Rack and Pinion Replacement appointment is a repair appointment. It does not include testing or troubleshooting. If you are not sure the rack and pinion is the problem, book Diagnose / Troubleshoot instead. The technician finds the cause and quotes the repair.
Is it the rack and pinion? Signs to watch for
- Power steering fluid leaves spots under the front of the car.
- The steering wheel feels heavy at low speed, and the fluid level keeps dropping.
- You hear a growl or whine when turning, with fluid wet around the steering rack area.
- The steering feels loose, and the car wanders in the lane.
- A clunk comes through the steering wheel when turning into a driveway or over bumps.
- The steering wheel catches or binds instead of turning smoothly.
- The steering wheel does not return to center like it used to.
- The front tires scrub or wear unevenly after an alignment.
- An alignment shop said the rack is leaking or has internal play.
Rack and pinion, pump, or tie rods?
A power steering pump problem usually makes noise from the pump area and can make the wheel hard to turn, especially when the fluid is low. Tie rod wear usually shows up as looseness, clunks, wandering, and tire wear, without power steering fluid leaking from the rack. A rack and pinion problem can give you both sides of the complaint: steering play or binding, plus fluid leaking from the rack boots or the rack body on hydraulic systems.
What happens if you wait
A leaking hydraulic rack keeps losing fluid. When the fluid gets low, the pump runs noisy and hot, and steering assist can drop off. A rack with internal play or binding can also make the car wander, wear the front tires, and keep the alignment from holding.

What it costs, and how the price is set
Rack and Pinion Replacement is priced for your car on the written estimate. The price depends on your vehicle's year, make, model, steering system, and how the rack is mounted. It includes the rack and pinion, parts and labor, the power steering fluid flush where the system uses fluid, the complimentary multipoint visual inspection, and the EZCC 12-Month / 12,000-Mile Service Warranty.
Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car, and you approve it online. The appointment is confirmed only when the estimate is approved, so the price is set before the technician comes to you. It changes only if you approve a change on site. A deposit may be collected online when you approve; the balance is due when the work is done, online, by card in person, or in cash.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you replace the rack and pinion in my parking garage?
+
Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.
Do I need an alignment after Rack and Pinion Replacement?
+
Yes. After the rack is replaced and the tie rod ends are reconnected, the car needs a wheel alignment at an alignment shop. Driving before the alignment can leave the steering wheel off center and wear the front tires.
Can you replace tie rods or sway bar links at the same visit?
+
Yes, when they are on the approved estimate. Add Tie Rod Replacement or Sway Bar Link Replacement to your request so the technician brings the parts for the approved work. Work that is not on the estimate is quoted for a later visit.
How long does a Rack and Pinion Replacement take?
+
Usually four to six hours. It depends on the vehicle's year, make, model, engine layout, steering system, and where the rack sits on the subframe.
Do I need to be there?
+
Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.
Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?
+
No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.
Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.
If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
+
Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.
Can you replace a rack and pinion at my home or office?
+
Yes, when the car is parked on a solid, level surface with room for the technician to work safely. Rack access depends on the vehicle layout, so your written estimate is built for your year, make, model, and steering system.
Is it the rack and pinion or the power steering pump?
+
A pump problem usually makes noise from the pump area and affects steering assist. A rack problem may leak at the rack, bind, feel loose, or keep the alignment from holding. If you are not sure, book Diagnose / Troubleshoot instead of a repair.
What if my car has electric power steering?
+
Many electric steering cars still use a rack and pinion assembly. The technician replaces the rack and pinion for your car and reconnects the steering shaft, suspension connections, and electrical connectors needed for that design.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
+
Same-day appointments may be available when the schedule permits, but they are not guaranteed. EZ Car Clinic is an advance-booking service, not an emergency roadside or towing provider. Your appointment is confirmed only after you approve the estimate.
How do I pay?
+
EZ Car Clinic may collect a deposit online when you approve the estimate. The balance can be paid online, by card in person, or in cash when the work is done.
What does the rack and pinion warranty cover?
+
The EZCC Service Warranty on the rack and pinion is 12 months/12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage conditions and exclusions are explained in the full service warranty terms.
