EZCC Service Warranty on parts and labor

Yes, we replace parking brake shoes and drums/rotors where the car is parked

The technician brings the parking brake shoes and the drums or rotors. They replace the parking brake friction parts, adjust the parking brake, and include a complimentary multipoint visual inspection. The price includes parts, labor and the EZCC Service Warranty.

Not sure it is the parking brake?

A parking brake shoes and drums/rotors replacement appointment is a repair appointment. It does not include testing or troubleshooting. If you are not sure the parking brake is the problem, book Diagnose Brake System instead. The technician finds the cause and quotes the repair.

Is it the parking brake? Signs to watch for

  • The car rolls after you set the parking brake.
  • The parking brake lever pulls up much higher than it used to.
  • The parking brake pedal goes too far before it feels tight.
  • The parking brake holds on flat ground but not on a hill.
  • You hear scraping or grinding from the rear wheels after using the parking brake.
  • The rear brakes smell hot after driving with the parking brake released.
  • The parking brake feels loose, weak or uneven.
  • The car has rear brake noise that changes after the parking brake is applied and released.
  • The parking brake warning stays on after the handle or pedal is released.

Parking brake shoes, rear pads or rear drums?

Many cars use small parking brake shoes inside the hat of the rear rotor. The service brake pads stop the car when you press the brake pedal, while the parking brake shoes hold the car when it is parked. Other vehicles use rear brake shoes inside drums, and the parking brake works through those shoes. That is why the estimate shows the option that fits your vehicle.

What happens if you wait

Worn parking brake shoes lose grip, and adjustment runs out. Rust on the drum surface can make the shoes scrape, grab or fail to hold. If the parking brake drags, the rear brakes can run hot and the shoes can wear faster. Waiting can also make it harder to separate a shoe problem from a cable or hardware problem.

What it costs, and how the price is set

Parking Brake Shoes and Drums/Rotors Replacement is priced for your car on the written estimate. The price depends on the year, make and model, and whether your vehicle uses rear drums or parking brake shoes inside rear rotors. It includes the parking brake shoes and drums/rotors, parts and labor, parking brake adjustment, complimentary multipoint visual inspection, and the EZCC Service Warranty.

Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car, and you approve it online. Frequently Asked Questions

Can you replace the parking brake in my parking garage?

+

Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.

Are parking brake shoes the same as rear brake pads?

+

Not on many cars. Rear brake pads stop the car with the brake pedal, while small parking brake shoes inside the rear rotor hold the car when parked. Some vehicles use rear drums, where the shoe setup is different.

What if the parking brake cable is seized?

+

A seized cable can keep the parking brake from applying or releasing correctly. Parking Brake Shoes and Drums/Rotors Replacement is for the shoes and drums/rotors. Cable work is quoted separately unless it is already on the approved estimate.

How long does a parking brake shoes and drums/rotors replacement take?

+

Usually two to four hours. It depends on the year, make and model, whether the parking brake uses rear drums or shoes inside the rear rotors, and how the rear brake hardware is laid out.

Do I need to be there?

+

Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.

Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?

+

No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.

Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.

If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

+

Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.

Why does my parking brake not hold on a hill?

+

The parking brake may not hold when the shoes are worn, glazed, out of adjustment or working against a rusty drum surface. A stretched or stuck cable can cause the same symptom. If you are not sure which part is causing it, book Diagnose Brake System instead.

Can you replace rear brake pads and rotors at the same visit?

+

Yes, when Brake Pads and Rotors Replacement is on the approved estimate. Add it to your request so the technician brings the parts for the approved work. Work that is not on the estimate is quoted for a later visit.

Will this fix a parking brake warning light?

+

Only if the warning is related to the parking brake parts being replaced and adjusted. A brake warning light can also come from a switch, low brake fluid, ABS fault or electronic parking brake fault. If the warning light is the main concern, book Diagnose Brake System.

Can I get a same-day appointment?

+

Same-day appointments may be available when the schedule permits, but they are not guaranteed. EZ Car Clinic is an advance-booking service, not an emergency roadside or towing provider. Your appointment is confirmed only after you approve the estimate.

How do I pay?

+

EZ Car Clinic may collect a deposit online when you approve the estimate. The balance can be paid online, by card in person, or in cash when the work is done.

What does the parking brake warranty cover?

+

The EZCC Service Warranty on the parking brake is 12 months/12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage conditions and exclusions are explained in the full service warranty terms.
