Diagnose Brake System at Your Home or Office

Your brakes squeal, grind, shake, feel soft, or a brake warning light is on. An experienced mobile mechanic comes to your home or office across Northern Virginia, nearby Maryland and Washington, DC, finds the cause where the car is parked, and quotes the repair. Yes, we find out why your brakes are acting up, where it is parked

The technician comes to the car and works through the brake system from the symptom to the cause. They check the pedal feel, fluid condition, visible leaks, pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, lines, booster, master cylinder and brake warning faults. You get the cause explained in plain words and the repair quoted separately. The price covers the diagnosis, billed hourly.

Already know what is wrong?

If you already know the pads and rotors, a caliper, or the brake fluid service is needed, book the repair directly: Brake Pads and Rotors Replacement, Brake Caliper Replacement, or Brake Fluid Flush/Bleed. Each repair is quoted on its own written estimate. If you are not sure, this diagnostic is the place to start.

Brake problem: what we see

  • The brakes squeal when you stop.
  • You hear grinding from one wheel when you brake.
  • The brake pedal feels soft or sinks lower than normal.
  • The brake pedal feels hard and the car takes more effort to stop.
  • The steering wheel shakes when you brake.
  • The car pulls to one side during braking.
  • A brake warning light or ABS light is on.
  • Brake fluid is wet around a wheel, hose, line or under the master cylinder.
  • You smell a hot brake smell after driving.
  • The parking brake feels stuck or will not hold the car.

Brake problem, wheel bearing, or tire?

Brake trouble usually changes when you press the pedal. A warped rotor can shake the pedal or steering wheel while braking. A seized caliper can make one wheel hot and pull the car during a stop. A wheel bearing noise usually growls with road speed even when you are not braking. A tire pull is usually there while cruising, not only when the brakes are applied.

Why diagnose before replacing parts

Brake symptoms overlap. A grinding noise can be pads worn into the rotor, a backing plate touching the rotor, or a parking brake shoe coming apart. A soft pedal can come from air in the lines, a fluid leak, a master cylinder problem, or a caliper issue. Diagnose Brake System finds the cause first, so the repair estimate is for the part or service that matches the fault.

What we do at your location

1

Listen to the brake symptom and when it happens.

2

Check the brake pedal feel, fluid level, visible leaks and hydraulic parts.

3

Inspect the pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, lines and parking brake parts that can be reached at the car.

4

Scan brake and ABS faults when a brake warning light is on, then explain the cause and quote the repair.

The diagnosis is billed hourly. Most causes are found within the first hour.

What it costs, and how the price is set

Diagnose Brake System is priced for your car on the written estimate. Diagnostics are billed hourly, and most brake issues are found within the first hour. The price depends on the symptom, the brake layout, access to the suspected part, and whether the problem is steady or intermittent. The repair itself is quoted separately once the cause is known.

Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car, and you approve it online. The appointment is confirmed only when the estimate is approved, so the price is set before the technician comes to you. It changes only if you approve a change on site. A deposit may be collected online when you approve; the balance is due when the work is done, online, by card in person, or in cash.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you diagnose it in my parking garage?

+

Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.

Why does my car shake when I brake?

+

A shake while braking often points to rotor thickness variation, pad material transfer, worn pads, or looseness that shows up under braking load. The technician checks whether the shake is coming from the brake parts or from a related wheel and suspension issue.

What does a brake warning light mean?

+

A brake warning light can mean low brake fluid, a parking brake switch issue, a hydraulic fault, or an ABS fault depending on the vehicle. Diagnose Brake System checks the warning in context with the pedal feel, fluid level and stored brake faults.

How long does Diagnose Brake System take?

+

Usually about an hour. It depends on the vehicle's year, make, model, brake layout, access to the suspected part, and whether the fault is clear or intermittent.

Do I need to be there?

+

Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.

Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?

+

No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.

Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.

If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.

Why is my brake pedal soft?

+

A soft pedal can come from low brake fluid, air in the hydraulic system, a fluid leak, a failing master cylinder, or a caliper problem. Diagnose Brake System traces the hydraulic side before parts are quoted.

Can you repair the brakes at the same visit?

+

Only when that repair is already on the approved estimate. The technician brings the parts for the approved work. Anything found during Diagnose Brake System is quoted for a later repair visit.

Should I drive if the brake pedal goes to the floor?

+

No. If the pedal goes to the floor, the car may not stop normally. Park it and book Diagnose Brake System before using it again.

Can I get a same-day appointment?

+

Same-day appointments may be available when the schedule permits, but they are not guaranteed. EZ Car Clinic is an advance-booking service, not an emergency roadside or towing provider. Your appointment is confirmed only after you approve the estimate.

How do I pay?

+

EZ Car Clinic may collect a deposit online when you approve the estimate. The balance can be paid online, by card in person, or in cash when the work is done.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

+

Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.
