EZCC Service Warranty on parts and labor

Yes, we replace EGR valves where the car is parked

The technician brings the EGR valve that is on your estimate to your home or office and installs it. They fit the new gasket or seal where your engine uses one, reconnect the electrical or vacuum control, and clear related trouble codes if applicable. The appointment also includes a complimentary multipoint visual inspection. The price includes parts, labor and the EZCC Service Warranty.

Not sure it is the EGR valve?

An EGR valve replacement appointment is a repair appointment. It does not include testing or troubleshooting. If you are not sure the EGR valve is the problem, book Diagnose Check Engine Light instead. The technician finds the cause and quotes the repair.

Is it the EGR valve? Signs to watch for

  • The check engine light is on with an EGR flow code.
  • The engine idles rough after it warms up.
  • The car stalls at stop signs or when you shift into gear.
  • The engine hesitates or surges during light throttle driving.
  • You hear pinging or spark knock when climbing a hill.
  • The car failed an emissions test for EGR flow.
  • Fuel mileage has dropped with the check engine light on.
  • The engine feels weak at low speed, then clears up as you accelerate.
  • The idle drops too low when the EGR valve sticks open.

EGR valve or oxygen sensor?

Both can turn on the check engine light and make the engine run poorly. An EGR valve problem is about exhaust gas entering the intake at the wrong time, so a stuck-open valve often causes rough idle, stalling and hard low-speed running. An oxygen sensor problem is about fuel mixture feedback, so it more often causes mixture codes, poor fuel mileage and fuel trim trouble. If the failed part is not known, book a diagnostic appointment instead of EGR Valve Replacement.

What happens if you wait

A stuck-open EGR valve can keep feeding exhaust into the intake at idle, so the engine may keep stalling or running rough. A stuck-closed EGR valve can raise combustion temperature and cause pinging under load. The check engine light can also keep the car from passing emissions until the EGR problem is repaired and the related codes stay cleared.

What it costs, and how the price is set

EGR Valve Replacement is priced for your car on the written estimate. The price depends on your vehicle's year, make, model, engine and where the EGR valve sits. It includes the EGR valve, parts and labor, clearing related trouble codes if applicable, the complimentary multipoint visual inspection, and the EZCC 12-Month / 12,000-Mile Service Warranty.

Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car, and you approve it online. The appointment is confirmed only when the estimate is approved, so the price is set before the technician comes to you. It changes only if you approve a change on site. Frequently Asked Questions

Can you replace the EGR valve in my parking garage?

+

Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.

Will EGR Valve Replacement turn off my check engine light?

+

If the EGR valve is the cause, clearing the related trouble codes may keep the light off. If another emission fault is also present, book Diagnose Check Engine Light.

What if the EGR cooler is the problem too?

+

The EGR cooler is a separate part from the EGR valve. If you already know it needs replacement, request EGR Cooler Replacement so it can be quoted on the written estimate.

How long does an EGR valve replacement take?

+

Usually one to three hours. It depends on the year, make, model, engine, where the EGR valve sits, and how much has to come off to reach it.

Do I need to be there?

+

Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.

Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?

+

No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.

Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.

If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

+

Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.

Can a bad EGR valve make my car stall?

+

Yes. When an EGR valve sticks open, exhaust gas enters the intake at idle when the engine does not want it. That can cause rough idle, shaking and stalling when you stop.

Do I need a diagnostic before EGR Valve Replacement?

+

If the EGR valve has already been identified as the failed part, you can book EGR Valve Replacement. If you only have a check engine light or rough running and are not sure, book a diagnostic appointment first.

Can you replace an electronic EGR valve?

+

Yes, when that is the valve used on your vehicle. Some vehicles use an electronic EGR valve, and some use vacuum control.

Can I get a same-day appointment?

+

Same-day appointments may be available when the schedule permits, but they are not guaranteed. EZ Car Clinic is an advance-booking service, not an emergency roadside or towing provider. Your appointment is confirmed only after you approve the estimate.

How do I pay?

+

EZ Car Clinic may collect a deposit online when you approve the estimate. The balance can be paid online, by card in person, or in cash when the work is done.

What does the EGR valve warranty cover?

+

The EZCC Service Warranty on the EGR valve is 12 months/12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage conditions and exclusions are explained in the full service warranty terms.
