Diagnose Fluid Leak at Your Home or Office
There is a wet spot under your car, fluid on the engine, or a burning smell, and you do not know what is leaking. An experienced mobile mechanic comes to your home or office across Northern Virginia, nearby Maryland and Washington, DC, finds the cause where the car is parked, and quotes the repair. Same-day when the schedule has room.

Yes, we find out why your car is leaking fluid, where it is parked
The technician comes to the car and works from the fluid to the source. They identify whether it is engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid or another fluid, then trace where it is coming from. The technician explains what is leaking and prepares a separate estimate for the repair. The price covers the diagnosis, billed hourly.
Already know what is wrong?
If you already know the leaking part, book the repair directly: Coolant/Radiator Hose Replacement, Water Pump Replacement or Valve Cover Gasket Replacement. Each is a repair appointment with its own written estimate. If you are not sure, this diagnostic is the place to start.
A fluid leak: what we see
- A wet spot shows up under the front of the car after it sits.
- You see oil on the bottom of the engine or on the splash shield.
- A sweet smell comes from the engine bay after driving.
- Steam comes from under the hood after the engine gets hot.
- The coolant level keeps dropping in the reservoir.
- The brake pedal feels soft and the brake fluid level is low.
- The steering whines or feels heavy, and the power steering fluid is low.
- Red or brown fluid is on the driveway near the middle of the car.
- Oil smoke or a burnt oil smell comes from oil dripping onto hot exhaust parts.
- The leak only appears after the car has been driven.
What color and smell can tell you
Engine oil is usually amber to dark brown and feels slick. Coolant can be green, orange, pink or yellow and often has a sweet smell. Brake fluid is usually clear to amber and slick, but it is a safety concern because it can mean the brake system is losing pressure. Power steering fluid and transmission fluid can look red or brown, so the leak location matters as much as the color.
Why diagnose before replacing parts
Fluid can travel before it drips. A valve cover leak can run down the engine and look like an oil pan leak. A coolant hose can spray onto the radiator, belt or fan and make the source hard to see. The diagnostic traces the leak back to its starting point, so the repair you approve matches the part that is actually leaking.
What we do at your location
1
Identify the fluid by look, feel, smell and location.
2
Check the related fluid level and the parts that commonly leak in that area.
3
Trace the leak path back to the highest wet point or active drip.
4
Explain the cause and quote the repair as its own estimate.
The diagnosis is billed hourly. Most causes are found within the first hour.

What it costs, and how the price is set
Diagnose Fluid Leak is priced for your car on the written estimate. Diagnostics are billed hourly. The price depends on how easy the leak is to see, whether the fluid only leaks hot or under pressure, and whether covers or tight engine space hide the source. It includes the on-site diagnosis, fluid identification, leak tracing and the repair estimate once the cause is known.
Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car, and you approve it online. The appointment is confirmed only when the estimate is approved, so the price is set before the technician comes to you. It changes only if you approve a change on site. A deposit may be collected online when you approve; the balance is due when the work is done, online, by card in person, or in cash.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you diagnose it in my parking garage?
+
Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.
Can I drive with a fluid leak?
+
It depends on the fluid and how much is leaking. A small oil seep is different from a brake fluid leak, coolant leak or power steering leak that is dropping the level. If a warning light is on, the temperature is rising, the brake pedal feels soft or steering assist is going away, do not keep driving it.
Can you fix the leak at the same visit?
+
The Diagnose Fluid Leak visit finds the cause and quotes the repair separately. Once you approve the repair estimate, the repair appointment is scheduled and the technician brings the parts for that repair.
How long does a diagnose fluid leak take?
+
Usually about an hour. It depends on your year, make, model, engine, where the leak is located, whether the leak is active, and whether covers or tight access hide the source.
Do I need to be there?
+
Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.
Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?
+
No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.
Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.
If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.
What fluid is leaking from my car?
+
The technician identifies the fluid by its color, feel, smell and where it is dripping from. Oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid and transmission fluid each leave different clues, but the leak source still has to be traced on the car.
Why does the leak only happen after I drive?
+
Some leaks only show when the fluid is hot, thin or under pressure. Coolant leaks often open up after the system builds pressure, and oil leaks can drip onto hot parts only after the engine has been running.
Is a coolant leak the same as an overheat problem?
+
A coolant leak can cause an overheat, but they are not the same diagnosis. If the main problem is the temperature gauge rising or steam from overheating, book Diagnose Engine Overheat.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
+
Same-day appointments may be available when the schedule permits, but they are not guaranteed. EZ Car Clinic is an advance-booking service, not an emergency roadside or towing provider. Your appointment is confirmed only after you approve the estimate.
How do I pay?
+
EZ Car Clinic may collect a deposit online when you approve the estimate. The balance can be paid online, by card in person, or in cash when the work is done.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
+
Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.
