Valve cover gasket leak or another oil leak?
A valve cover gasket leak starts high on the engine, where the valve cover meets the cylinder head. Oil often runs downward from that seam, lands on hot exhaust parts, or collects around the spark plug tubes. An oil pan, drain plug or oil filter leak starts lower on the engine, so the wet area begins near the bottom instead of at the top.
What happens if you wait
A small valve cover gasket seep can become a steady drip. Oil can land on hot exhaust parts and make a burning smell or smoke. On some engines, oil also fills the spark plug wells, softens the coil boots and causes misfires.

The appointment is confirmed only when the estimate is approved, so the price is set before the technician comes to you. It changes only if you approve a change on site. A deposit may be collected online when you approve; the balance is due when the work is done, online, by card in person, or in cash.

Can you replace the valve cover gasket in my parking garage?

Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.
Why does a bad valve cover gasket smell like burning oil?

The valve cover sits at the top of the engine. When the gasket leaks, oil can run down onto hot exhaust parts and make a sharp burning oil smell after the engine warms up.
Is a valve cover gasket the same as a head gasket?

No. The valve cover gasket seals the cover at the top of the engine. The head gasket seals between the cylinder head and engine block and is a different repair.
How long does a valve cover gasket replacement take?

Usually one to three hours. It depends on the vehicle year, make, model, engine and where the valve cover sits; intake parts, ignition coils or wiring brackets may need to come off first.
Do I need to be there?

Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.
Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?

No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.
Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.
If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.
Can I cancel or reschedule?

Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.
Can you replace a valve cover gasket at my home or office?

Yes, when the car is parked in a safe work area with room around the engine bay. The engine needs to be cool enough for the technician to work around the valve cover and nearby exhaust parts.
Can a valve cover gasket leak cause a misfire?

Yes. On some engines, the gasket set seals the spark plug tubes. When those seals leak, oil can fill the plug wells, soak the coil boots and cause a rough idle or misfire.
Will Valve Cover Gasket Replacement stop every oil leak?
