Yes, we replace radiator fans where the car is parked

Not sure it is the radiator fan?

A Radiator Fan Replacement appointment is a repair appointment. It does not include testing or troubleshooting. If you are not sure the radiator fan is the problem, book Diagnose Engine Overheat instead. The technician finds the cause and quotes the repair.

Is it the radiator fan? Signs to watch for

  • The temperature gauge climbs while you sit in traffic, then drops once the car is moving.
  • The engine overheat warning comes on after idling.
  • The air conditioning blows warmer at stoplights because there is not enough airflow through the condenser.
  • The radiator fan does not come on after a hot drive.
  • A loud grinding, buzzing or roaring noise comes from the fan area.
  • The fan shakes, wobbles or rubs the shroud.
  • Coolant boils into the overflow bottle after the car sits and idles.
  • A burning electrical smell comes from the front of the engine bay.
  • Fan blades are cracked, missing or hitting the shroud.

Radiator fan or another cooling problem?

A radiator fan problem usually shows up when the car is sitting still or moving slowly. At road speed, air is already moving through the radiator, so the temperature may drop. A stuck thermostat, weak water pump, clogged radiator or low coolant can make the engine run hot even while driving.

What happens if you wait

A bad radiator fan lets heat build up when the car is not moving. That heat can push coolant out of the overflow bottle, warp plastic cooling parts, and damage the head gasket if the engine gets too hot. If the gauge rises or the warning comes on, shut the engine off and let it cool before driving again.

What it costs, and how the price is set

Radiator Fan Replacement is priced for your car on the written estimate. The price depends on your year, make, model, engine, fan assembly and access around the radiator. It includes the cooling/radiator fan, parts and labor, the complimentary multipoint visual inspection, and the EZCC 12-Month / 12,000-Mile Service Warranty.

Before anything is scheduled, you get a written estimate for your car, and you approve it online. Frequently Asked Questions

Can you replace the radiator fan in my parking garage?

+

Usually, yes. EZ Car Clinic needs a parking spot for the service van close to your car. If the garage belongs to a building or HOA, confirm that the work is allowed before you book.

Is Radiator Fan Replacement the same as radiator replacement?

+

No. The radiator holds coolant and releases heat. The radiator fan moves air through the radiator and condenser when the car is stopped or moving slowly.

Could a thermostat or coolant leak look like a bad radiator fan?

+

Yes. A stuck thermostat, low coolant, a coolant leak, a weak water pump or a clogged radiator can also cause overheating. If you are not sure, book Diagnose Engine Overheat instead.

Can I get a same-day appointment?

+

Same-day appointments may be available when the schedule permits, but they are not guaranteed. EZ Car Clinic is an advance-booking service, not an emergency roadside or towing provider. Your appointment is confirmed only after you approve the estimate.

How do I pay?

+

EZ Car Clinic may collect a deposit online when you approve the estimate. The balance can be paid online, by card in person, or in cash when the work is done.

What does the radiator fan warranty cover?

+

The EZCC Service Warranty on the radiator fan is 12 months/12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage conditions and exclusions are explained in the full service warranty terms.

Why does my car overheat only when sitting still?

+

When the car is not moving, the radiator fan has to pull air through the radiator. If the fan motor, fan assembly or its built-in control fails, coolant temperature rises at idle and in stop-and-go traffic.

Can I drive with a bad radiator fan?

+

Not in stop-and-go traffic if the temperature gauge is rising. Highway airflow may keep the engine cooler for a while, but the car can overheat again when traffic slows or the car idles.

How long does a Radiator Fan Replacement take?

+

Usually one to three hours. It depends on the year, make, model and engine, and whether the fan comes out from the top, from underneath, or with shrouds and covers moved out of the way.

Do I need to be there?

+

Yes. Someone must be there to hand over the key and approve any change to the estimate. They do not need to stand by the car, but they are welcome to.

Are there any additional fees for weekend or same-day service?

+

No, we don't charge extra for weekend or same-day appointments. If our schedule allows, we're happy to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible at no extra charge.

Most services carry an on-site service fee to cover technician dispatch and travel to your location. This fee is clearly listed on your estimate.

If additional work is needed during your appointment, your technician will discuss it with you and provide an updated estimate for your approval before performing any additional services.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

+

Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the appointment; changes made within 48 hours are subject to a late-change fee under the booking policy.
